“NBTC Fund \u2013 NECTEC” Launches Thailand\u2019s First Software Testing Laboratory to Boost Confidence in Made-in-Thailand Software and Elevate Thai S-Curve Industries to Global Standards<\/strong>“<\/strong><\/h1>

A report from the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Research and Development Fund for the Public Interest (BTFP) under the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) revealed that the Fund has provided research funding to the Software Quality Assurance Testing Laboratory (SQUAT) at the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC). This funding supports the establishment of Thailand\u2019s first ISO\/IEC 17025-accredited software testing laboratory. The initiative aims to help Thai software developers meet international standards, reduce the cost of compliance testing, and ensure Thai consumers gain access to higher-quality, standards-compliant software. Moreover, the testing results can be used by developers to certify their products with relevant regulatory authorities.<\/p>

Dr. Panita Menanet, Manager of the Software Testing Laboratory at NECTEC, stated that the Software Testing Service<\/strong> offers significant benefits to Thai entrepreneurs seeking to develop internationally standardized software. It enables businesses to assess their current product quality and further enhance their digital products or services to comply with both national and international standards\u2014benefiting both producers and consumers.<\/p>

The laboratory currently offers testing services for four main categories of software:<\/p>

  1. Software Systems<\/strong> \u2013 Testing of software systems, including mobile applications, web applications, embedded systems, and other forms. Tests can be conducted on both in-development and completed products.<\/li>
  2. IoT Software<\/strong> \u2013 Testing the functionality of IoT devices, mobile applications, web applications, and related APIs to ensure they operate correctly and accurately according to product specifications.<\/li>
  3. Computer Log Systems<\/strong> \u2013 Verification of computer log systems that record and store network communication data, which may serve as evidence or reference for digital activity tracking.<\/li>
  4. Medical Device Software<\/strong> \u2013 Assessment of software and software development processes related to medical devices in accordance with international standards for medical software development.<\/li><\/ol>

    Future Expansion<\/strong><\/p>

    In the future, NECTEC plans to expand its testing services to include:<\/p>

    • Performance testing<\/strong> of temperature monitoring devices for vaccine storage,<\/li>
    • Safety testing<\/strong> of household electrical appliances,<\/li>
    • Biometric authentication systems<\/strong>,<\/li>
    • Service robots<\/strong>,<\/li>
    • Battery management systems (BMS)<\/strong> for electric vehicles,
      as well as providing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)<\/strong> testing toolkits.<\/li><\/ul>
